About Us

As an all volunteer choir, we are comprised of gifted amateur and professional musicians with a strong desire to share their musical talent. The Chorale is committed to providing outstanding choral music and to continually striving for performance excellence.

Our music includes classical, pop, jazz, seasonal, sacred and secular arrangements. Membership is open to adults in the community, college students and those high school students, minimum age 15, who have recommendation from a school or church choral director.

We will be presenting two to three concerts per year, plus special "preview" presentations to select groups.

Our Director, Amye Derix

The North Texas Concert Chorale welcomes Amye Derix as their director beginning in the Spring of 2010. She received a Bachelor of Music degree in music theory, and a Master of Music degree in vocal performance from Baylor University. After graduation, she moved to the Houston area where she performed with both the Houston Grand Opera Chorus and the Bach Society. While there, she also taught general music and voice lessons in the public school system and served as staff soloist in two area churches. Her musical experience took her to western North Carolina where she served for four years as Director of Music/Choir Director at First Presbyterian Church in Marion, and served as an adjunct music appreciation teacher at McDowell Technical Community College.

She returned to Texas and currently serves as Director of Music/Choir Director at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sherman, and is an adjunct music theory and voice teacher at Grayson County College in Denison. Amye's vocal, keyboard, and conducting skills allow her to work with a variety of students of differing skill levels, from beginning piano and voice students to members of an adult choir. She wants each person that she works with to be the best musician that he or she can be, and she strives for excellence in providing the foundations of musical training needed for future development of these skills.
